Radio Helderberg is running a winter blanket drive that started on Saturday, 2 June and will end on the 29th of June. The drive aims to help keep the people at the Somerset Night Shelter warm during the cold winter season. Radio Helderberg endorses the work done by the Somerset West night shelter in helping homeless people by providing them with overnight sleeping accommodation, an evening meal plus breakfast and a warm shower. With the support of our clients, the radio station will host outside broadcasts at strategically selected blanket drop off points within the Helderberg, Somerset West and Gordon’s Bay areas. Listeners, schools and local businesses are encouraged to donate towards the cause.
Drop off points are at:
- The Somerset West Interchange
- Waterstone Village Centre
- The Sanctuary Shopping Centre
- South Side Centre, Total Garage
The last stop will be at the Somerset West Night Shelter, where the radio station will be highlighting what happens at the night shelter. The radio station will then combine the collected blankets from each drop off point and drop them off at The Sanctuary Shopping Centre’s blanket drive on the 29th of June. The Blankets will be combined with those collected by The Sanctuary Shopping Centre and handed over to the night shelter.
Thank you to McDconalds Strand and Gecko for endorsing this drive..
