Radio Helderberg congratulates Cape Town Beaches for achieving the Blue Flag Status.
The City of Cape Town applied for Blue Flag status for some of its beaches across the metropole for this season – all of which have been granted the Blue Flag status for 2017 / 2018.
To gain Blue Status, the beaches have to meet a strict criterion. The criteria entails: environmental education and information, water quality, environmental management, parking areas, safety and services. Therefore, the status indicates that the beaches adhere to international safety and tourism standards. The accreditation is awarded for one season at a time, and if conditions change at the beach, it can be withdrawn.
The following beaches were bestowed:
Bikini Beach, Mnandi Beach, Strandfontein Beach, Muizenberg Beach, Fish Hoek Beach, Llandudno, Camps Bay Beach, Clifton 4th Beach, Melkbosstrand, Silwerstroomstrand.
Radio Helderberg is proud to be part of the Cape Town community!
